Ahmad Lawan the President of the Nigerian Senate has challenged Nigerians that are not comfortable with his leadership to vote him and other lawmakers out instead of calling for the scrap of the legislative arm of government.
Describing the Senate as an important arm of government that ensures all part of the country is equally represented, Lawan who faulted those calling for the scrapping of the senate as a result of the cost, said that the annual budget of the National Assembly was less than one percent of the country's 2021 budget.

Making this call during a retreat for top management staff of the National Assembly and National Assembly Service Commission in Abuja, Lawan said that every state is evenly represented at the Senate unlike the House of Representatives where states are represented based on their population.
