Lawmaker Building Classrooms For Deaf Students In Daura

A Member of Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya, representing Daura has embarked on the construction of two blocks of classroom to help the hearing impaired.

Yahaya is building the classrooms at the Deaf Institute in his constituency. He is also constructing an office and a store in the institute.

Yahaya made the disclosure in an interview with the press on Thursday in Daura. According to the lawmaker, the construction would improve the abilities of children who are deaf or cannot communicate properly.

“We must come together to bring meaningful education to the deaf in the country,” he said.

Yahaya said that people living with disabilities must be cared for. 

In February 2020, the lawmaker had procured and rehabilitated 50 boreholes in Daura, Katsina, to enhance access to clean water.

 The project was a part of efforts to provide people with clean and safe water. He said that the multi-million Naira project was designed to supply safe water to about 100, 000 people in the area.
