Laycon, Nengi, Other BBNaija Stars With Political Appointmen

The benefit attached to participation in the popular Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show cannot be overemphasised as it goes beyond just gracing fans' television screens.

Apart from the grand prize and others won during the show, many housemates have bagged several endorsements deals and political appointments inclusive and as such, AllNews compiles a list of few participants who have won government seats.

Laycon

Ogun state governor Dapo Abiodun appointed Laycon as the Youth Ambassador of the state on Tuesday, October 6while playing host to the 26-year-old rapper at his Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta.

Taking to his verified Instagram handle, the governor also announced the additional donation of N5 million and a three-bedroom bungalow apartment to Laycon.

Abiodun added that the gifts and appointments are a celebration of the rapper’s virtues and intellect which he demonstrated during his time in the reality show.

Ogun State-born Laycon emerged the winner of the "Lockdown" edition after garnering the highest number of votes from the audience.

The 26-year-old rapper made headlines for his feelings towards Erica and the revelation of his genotype.

Nengi

On Friday, November 6, the Bayelsa state governor, Duoye appointed Nengi, the 2nd runner up in the "Lockdown" edition as a Senior Special Assistant and Face of Bayelsa State.

Nengi who is a Bayelsa indigene had traveled to the state on Thursday, November 5, alongside Neo.

During their visit to the government house, Nengi was appointed a  Senior Special Assistant on Girl Child Development which was announced on social media by Neo.

Also taking to her social media page, the former beauty queen wrote "Today was nothing short of amazing. Going home, and being received by my amazing fanmily in my home state, Bayelsa. The outpouring of love, support, and genuine excitement blew my heart away. To top it all off, I was honoured by the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, and was unveiled as the new Face of Bayelsa. I was also appointed as the Senior Special Assistant on Girl Child Development . I

"am so touched. I am so excited for the journey ahead. I am so proud of myself for coming this far. I am constantly in awe of your endless love for this young girl from Bayelsa, and remain indebted to you my fanmily for your continuous support. You have shown me that my dreams are valid, and I truly hope that my story proves to you that yours are too."

Trikytee

Sinclair Timmy better known as Trikytee, a former housemate in the "Lockdown" edition was also given a political appointment by the Bayelsa state government.

The appointment as a Senior Special Assistant came the same day Nengi bagged hers.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Trikytee wrote "I want to thank His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State
Senator Douye Diri on my appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State...What an Honour, I am grateful."

Cindy

Cindy Okafor, was appointed an ambassador of made-in-Aba project — aimed at promoting indigenous goods and services in the state.

Cindy who was a housemate in the Pepper Dem edition of the reality TV show was named the ambassador by the Abia state governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Sharing a photo of herself posing with John Okeiyi Kalu, the state commissioner for information and Chris Ezem, secretary to the state, she wrote “I am so excited, to represent such great cause. Made in Aba project is something the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is very passionate about,” she wrote on Instagram.

Gedoni

On January 20, 2020, former BBNaija housemate Gedoni Ekpata bagged a political appointment with the Cross-River state government as a special adviser to Ben Ayade, the governor.

This was initially announced by his fiancée, Khafi Kareem in an Instagram post, shortly after they got engaged on December 25, 2019.

“All we do is what? Congratulations baby! Gedoni has been appointed the special assistant to Governor Ben Ayade on Garment Factory and Branding,” she wrote.

Gedoni was a former housemate in the Pepper Dem edition 2019.
