Leicester City Iheanacho's Hattrick Seals Sheffield's Relegation Fate

Leicester City Iheanacho's Hattrick Seals Sheffield's Relega

Nigerian Leicester City's forward, Kelechi Iheanacho completed a hattrick at the King Power Stadium as Sheffield United were sealed to the relegation zone, losing their 23rd game of the Premier League on matchday 29.

One would think Sheffield United's week could not get any worse but it did get worse as they lost their manager and lost their place in the English top-flight football tournament  in the same week.

A 5-0 romping at the hands of Leicester sealed their fate to the English Football League (EFL) with Iheanacho scoring a hattrick and Ampadu putting the ball in his own net to worsen matters.

Brendan Rodgers made two changes to his side bringing in Jonny Evans, Ayoze Perez to replace Daniel Amartey and Sidnei Tavares.

The breakthrough came for Leicester in the 39th minute as Ayoze Perez sent a neat pass to Vardy in behind the defence, Vardy could have gone for glory himself but he whipped the ball across the goal to Iheanacho to tuck it in.

That was the first of three for the Nigerian striker ending the first half as 1-0.

The second half was the resumption of hostilities as Rodgers brought in Marc Albrighton for Ricardo Pereira.

In a quick counter-attack, the substitute showed great awareness racing down the right-wing, he picked out Perez who ran at the defence before drilling a low shot into the far corner past Aaron Ramsdale. It is 2-0.

After 5 minutes of play, Iheanacho made it 3-0 with another assist from Jamie Vardy, the new combination of Vardy-Iheanacho is something every team in the Premier League would be aware of now -- including the Europa League.

Vardy managed to stay onside, picked Iheanacho out with a first-time pass, he grabbed it and finished the ball.

Something that would gladden Nigeria national team coach, Gernot Rohr was the 4th goal with a combination of two Nigerian professional footballers, Wilfried Ndidi and Iheanacho to give the Foxes a 4-0 lead.

Iheanacho completed his first Premier League hat-trick in an emphatic fashion, he received the ball 30 yards from goal, took his time and drilled the ball into the net.

With a match already at a game, set, match status, Ampadu did the unthinkable, he deflected Vardy's shot into the net to make it 5-0 for the host.

Leicester will next turn their attention to Manchester United on Sunday in the quarter-final of the FA Cup while Sheffield will also face Chelsea in the FA Cup to see if they can still end the season on a high note.
