Leicester Top Scorer, Vardy Out For 'Few Weeks'

Leicester City top scorer, Jamie Vardy will be out of action "for a few weeks" due to a minor hernia operation, the EPL team confirmed on Friday.

The Foxes Number 9 has managed a hernia issue throughout the 2020/21 campaign, scoring 13 goals in all competitions, but he is now set to have a small corrective procedure in the coming days.

"Jamie Vardy will be out for a few weeks," Brendan Rodgers told the media. "As you know, we’ve been managing him over this last number of months, and he’s been absolutely fantastic.

"Obviously, Dennis Praet has been away, and Wes Morgan will be out for a few weeks as well, but apart from that, we have the same squad.

"It’s one that doesn’t keep him (Vardy) out for too long, but it’s just a repair in and round that hernia area. It’s one we feel he can’t really put it off much longer.

Meanwhile, Rodgers revealed that he may utilise the depth of his squad at Brentford Community Stadium on Sunday, but the 47-year-old insists it will be a competitive XI nonetheless.

Asked if he will rotate the squad, he added: "Yes, but we’ll still have a strong team. We’ll still, virtually, have a team of full international players.

"With the games that we’ve had and the games coming up, I have a real trust in the squad and I'll always pick a team to win the game, but yes, there will be some changes."

The English striker would not be available for Everton clash at the Goodison Park and even miss Leeds United match at the King Power Stadium.
