Lekki Building Collapse: Death Toll Rises To Four

The number of casualties of the seven-storey building collapse that happened on Sunday in Lekki, Lagos has risen to four.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that excavators of emergency response agencies while searching for bodies at the site recovered two more on Monday.

Two corpses had been taken from the rubble on Sunday.

Those living in the vicinity believe that more bodies are still trapped as it was disclosed that no less than six individuals were in the building when it collapsed.

The casualty figure was confirmed by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.

AllNews Nigeria previously reported that an official revealed that they were chased away by the owner of the building who shunned warnings and commenced work on the site.

"We have a developer that is hostile and who contravenes the law of the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning, 2019, as amended", the Commissioner for Physical Planning, Idris Salako, said.
