What was meant to be a peaceful procession has turned ugly as policemen have reportedly fired teargas on those involved at the Lekki toll gate.
Security operatives had been dispatched early on Thursday after rapper Falz announced that there would be a memorial procession.
A video shared online captures the moment policemen fire teargas, with the ensuing smoke partly obscuring visibility for those in the area.
Even though nothing else is glimpsed in the video, it can only be assumed that something must have prompted the action of the security operatives.
Per reports, popular activist Omoyele Sowore, Falz himself, and comedian Mr Macaroni are among those who are participating in the procession.
