Lekki Massacre: Sanwo-Olu Sends 'Serious Message' To All Leaders

Lekki Massacre: Sanwo-Olu Sends 'Serious Message' To All Lea

...Calls For End To Ongoing #EndSARS Protest

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called on all leaders at all levels to speak up and put an end to the ongoing #EndSARS protest.

Reacting to the Lekki Massacre, the governor said the security officers who shot at End SARS protesters got the instruction wrong.

Sanwo-Olu while expressing shock and surprise over the shooting said he found out about the incident from the wife of a cabinet member who called him.

The governor while speaking on AriseTv on Thursday morning said the instruction was that the officers will not be out until 10-10:30 pm when all citizens have gotten to their various homes.

“The events that started around 7-7:30 pm came as a total shock. I don’t know how the officers got it all wrong because the instruction was that police won’t be out until 10-10:30 pm when all citizens should have gotten to their various homes. This is totally against what we stand for.”

The governor further stated that he has reported the incident to the highest level of the military hierarchy and a judicial panel will be set up to investigate it.

“The army does not report to me. I have reported the matter to the highest command in the military. It’s not something we are going to gloss over. A judicial panel will be set up to investigate it. I have escalated it to the highest level of the military,” he added.

Removal Of CCTV From Lekki Toll Gate

AllNews reports that Governor Sanwo-Olu denied that CCTVs were taken down from the Lekki toll gate before the attack on #ENDSARS protesters took place.

Sanwo-Olu said that it was laser cameras that were taken down at the toll gate.

"When I saw the picture of staff of Lekki Concession Company, taking down what looked like cameras, I called the manager and he explained to me that they were laser cameras that pick up tags and number plates at the tollgate.

"Nobody can take down the CCTV at the tollgate. The footages from the incident are very much available and they would be made public when the Judicial panel of Enquiry begin their investigation into the unfortunate attack," he said.
