Lekki Tollgate Set On Fire Following Killings Of ENDSARS Pro

The Lekki tollgate has been set on fire following attack by Soldiers on ENDSARS protesters at the tollgate this night. The soldiers had opened fire at the peaceful protesters this night, leading to at least two deaths among the protesters, with some injured.

Before the shooting, the operators of the Lekki Tollgate, Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC), had taken down the camera, after which lights in the area were turned off by the management of the street lights.

Following the removal of the CCTV and light out, soldiers arrived after, shooting into thee protesters in the dark. Note that in the early hours of Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the Lagos State Government ordered curfew from 4pm, but later in the night changed the timing for curfew to 9pm - soldiers started shooting at protesters an hour before the curfew time.

Following the shooting, the Lekki Tollgate has been set on fire by unknown individuals. Since the ENDSARS protest began 12-days ago, the Lekki tollgate, which is owned by the state government, but managed by LCC, has lost about NGN234 million.

It was gathered that the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge generates about N10 million daily, while the Admiralty Circle Plaza along the Lekki-Epe Expressway generates about N16.6 million a day. With the burning of the Lekki tollgate, the state government is set to lose about NGN300 million this October, while families lose their loved ones.

Meanwhile, the Admiralty Circle Plaza generates about N500 million monthly.
