Real Madrid's win against Osasuna the day before brought them closer to Xavi Hernandez's team, who were focusing on Thursday's Europa League playoff second leg against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Cadiz had two disallowed goals and their ability to make Barcelona uncomfortable at times, their defeat never seemed in doubt.
Xavi started with Sergi Roberto in midfield, replacing Pedri, who suffered a thigh injury during the Europa League first-leg draw with Manchester United last Thursday. However, it was Ferran Torres' impressive performance that made the difference for Barcelona in the first half.
The winger, who has struggled this season, took advantage of his chance to shine with Ousmane Dembele injured and Raphinha rested for the United game. Torres was hyperactive, dribbling past defenders and crossing for Lewandowski, whose shot was saved but rebounded to Sergi Roberto for the opening goal.
Lewandowski added a second after collecting the ball on the edge of the Cadiz box and firing a low strike into the bottom corner.
Although Barcelona eased off in the second half, Lewandowski came close to scoring again with a lobbed effort that hit the crossbar.
Cadiz striker Roger Marti was infuriated after having a goal ruled out for offside early in the match, and another disallowed in the second half. Ter Stegen denied substitute, Chris Ramos, with a great save, keeping another clean sheet for Barcelona, who have conceded just seven goals from 22 matches in LaLiga.
In Europe, Barcelona's defense has been less solid, and Xavi is hoping for a better performance against Manchester United in the second leg of the Europa League playoffs.
