LIFE: Abba Kyari The Super Policeman Named In Hushpuppi's Bribery Saga

Abba Kyari is a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Nigeria Police Force who formerly served at the Lagos State Police Command, in the capacity of the Officer-In-Charge of disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Abba Kyari is a Kanuri native of the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. He was born on March 17, 1975, into the family of Alhaji Baba Kyari, in the metropolitan city of Maiduguri, Borno State.

He had his primary and secondary education, at the University of Maiduguri Staff Primary School and Government College Maiduguri, where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Leaving Certificate, SSCE.

Abba Kyari gained admission into the University of Maiduguri in 1993 and graduated with a Bachelors's degree in Geography in 1997. Afterwards, he proceeded on his compulsory National Youth Service, NYSC, and was attached to the 6th Motorized Infantry Battalion of the Nigeria Army, at Igbawa Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Abba Kyari joined the Nigeria Police in the year 2000 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

DCP. Abba Kyari is currently the Commander, Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)

​​​​​​Abba Kyari  Vs Hushpuppi  Bribery Saga

AllNews Nigeria earlier reported that Hushpuppi accused super Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari of a $1.1 million fraud involving a Qatari businessman.

Recall the US Department of Justice initiated the prosecution of Hushpuppi in February as court documents ordered unsealed showed that Abbas, a 37-year-old Nigerian national, pleaded guilty on April 20.

A version of Abbas’ plea agreement filed on Tuesday, July 27th outlines his role in the finance scheme, as well as several other cyber and business email compromise schemes that cumulatively caused more than $24million in losses.

During a court filing, Abbas disclosed during interrogation that he paid bribes to Nigeria’s police chief, Abba Kyari, to have one of his rivals arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over a $1.1million dupe of a Qatari businessperson.

Abba Kyari In a hurried statement denied allegations by Huspuppi, saying he only met him two years ago and did not benefit financially from him the embattled fraudster.

US Court Orders FBI To Arrest Abba Kyari

United States Court has issued a warrant of arrest for Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, over his role in serial internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, more commonly Hushpuppi’s multi-million naira fraud probe.

Otis Wright of the United States District Court for the Central District of California ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to track down Kyari and produce him in the United States for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud.

According to Peoples Gazzette, a court warrant to arrest Abba Kyari was requested by prosecutors on February 12, 2021, and another warrant was requested on April 29, 2021.

Justice Wright’s permission for the FBI to arrest Abba Kyari and hold him in U.S. custody was reportedly unsealed on July 26.
