LIFE: Bisi Kolawole, Former PDP Chairman Hoping To Govern Ekiti State

Politician and founder of Bisi Kolawole enterprises, Otunba Bisi Kolawole was born in Ile-Ife to High Chief Ezekiel and Alice Kolawole on September 20, 1956. He is a native of Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State.

He is a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the immediate past Chairman of PDP, Ekiti State, and the flagbearer of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

Education

Kolawole had his primary education at St. John Anglican Primary School, Efon-Alaaye. He attended Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero Ekiti, and Ahmadiyya College, Agege, Lagos State where he obtained his West African School Certificate and High School Certificate (HSC) respectively. 

He further obtained his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Graphics Design from Yaba College of Technology, Lagos where he was actively involved in the Students' Union politics in 1981.

In 1982, he participated in the compulsory one-year national service and later pursued a Post Graduate Diploma and a Master's Degree in Public Administration at the University of Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University.

Post Education

Bisi Kolawole secured employment at Nichemtex, a textile company in Ikorodu, Lagos in 1982 after his NYSC year where he was a Production Manager. He resigned after registering his private company, Bisi Kolawole ENTS in 1986.

Political Ambition

Bisi Komolafe is said to have been born into politics. He hails from Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State, and grew up in the Obaloja palace, Efon-Alaye where he watched his father administer justice. His father was a Councillor from Efon-Alaaye under Chief Obafemi Awolowo's Action Group, which explains his interest in politics.

The politician began his career after the return to civilian governance in 1999. He moved from Lagos to Ekiti State where he has held several political positions.

He is an active member of Ekiti State politics and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He has worked with all the Governors of Ekiti State.

The member representing Efon Constituency, Ekiti State House of Assembly (2007-2011),

Commissioner for Environment (2015-2018),

Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Ekiti State (2020-2021),

He is the current PDP governorship candidate of Ekiti State, anointed by Ayo Fayose having surpassed Segun Oni, a former governor of the state in the primaries.

Personal Life

He is married to Deaconess Adeola Kehinde Kolawole and their marriage is blessed with children.
