The World Cup win marks the end of a long and successful career for Messi. He won the World Cup in his fifth and final tournament and clinched his first Copa America title in 2021.
He also holds four Champions League titles, 10 La Liga crowns with Barcelona, a Ligue 1 trophy with Paris Saint-Germain, and a record seven Ballon d'Or awards.
Messi became the first Argentina captain to lift the World Cup since Diego Maradona in 1986. He wished Maradona could have handed him the cup and said the late soccer legend gave him strength from above.

Despite achieving everything he wanted in his career, Messi has no plans to retire just yet. He intends to continue playing for Argentina and hopes to take the field as world champions with his teammates.
