Liverpool Could Ban Pitch Invader Who Nearly Injured Roberts

Liverpool

A young man has been arrested by Merseyside Police after running onto the pitch and colliding with Liverpool players while celebrating their seventh goal against Manchester United on Sunday.

The pitch invader nearly injured Andy Robertson, but the Scot managed to finish the match. The 16-year-old boy is suspected of encroaching onto the football pitch and is likely to be banned from Anfield for life.

The club has suspended his account until the formal sanctions process is complete.

The offender could face a criminal record and a lifetime ban from Anfield and all Premier League stadiums if found guilty of entering the pitch without permission.

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp was furious with the fan's behaviour and gave him an earful. The safety and security of players, colleagues, and supporters are paramount, and these acts are dangerous, illegal, and have severe consequences.

The police are working with the club in relation to the incident, and the young man is scheduled to attend a police station voluntarily in Merseyside.

The result of the match boosted Liverpool's top-four hopes, moving up to fifth, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand. They are set to play against relegation-threatened Bournemouth on Saturday.
