Liverpool expecting players' reaction against Crystal Palace

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hopes to see his players give a 'reaction' in Sunday's Premier League game against Crystal Palace after Thursday night's shock 3-0 loss to Atalanta in the first leg of the quarterfinals fixtures in the Europa League.

The defeat was the biggest the club have suffered in the competition's history and they could find it hard to overcome the Serie A side when they travel to Bergamo next week on Thursday for the return leg.

Klopp reacted to this and more on Friday afternoon as he answered questions in his press conference.

"I don’t think it’s a general low point, but you can see performance-wise it was a low point. The good thing about a really bad performance is that you can play better, so we should start from there [against Palace]. First and foremost, this must feel bad and it does."

Klopp added: "We have to show a reaction, definitely. That is 100% clear. I will think about that but it's not the first time in my life that I lost a football game, unfortunately. We will show a reaction, I can promise."

Klopp stated further that there is no "pressure" to rotate his Liverpool squad because of fixture congestion but added he has to make decisions based on the players available.

"I have to do as much as I can," said Klopp. "It is not pressure, it is just the situation. My job is not the easiest job in the world - it is not the most difficult as well - but when you have players you need to make sure you get them on the pitch."
