Liverpool Kick Off Europa League Campaign With Comeback Win

Liverpool Kick Off Europa League Campaign With Comeback Win

Liverpool made a winning start to their Europa League campaign with a 3-1 comeback win over LASK Linz on Thursday evening.

The hosts took a first half lead through  Florian Flecker, who struck a brilliant opener from the edge of the area.

But parity was restored in the second half when Liverpool were awarded a penalty for a foul on Luis Diaz.

Darwin Nunez stepped up to take it and made no mistake to fire home from 12 yards.

Shortly afterwards, Diaz himself scored Liverpool's second from debutant Ryan Gravenberch's cross.

Substitute Mohamed Salah added the third late on for Jurgen Klopp's side to wrap up the turnaround.

The result sees Liverpool move to the top of the table in Group, while Austrian outfit LASK occupy the bottom spot after suffering just their second defeat in 17 European matches.
