The tenure of local government chairmen in Ekiti State has been extended by another one year.
The extension was endorsed on Thursday by the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
The Assembly extended the tenure of the local government chairmen from the current two years to three years.
This follows the ratification of the report submitted by the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Reuben Awoyemibat plenary, in Ado Ekiti.
The extension would come into force after the December election into the councils.
