Lukaku Relieves Pressure On Roma Boss Mourinho

A goal by Romelu Lukaku and another by Lorenzo Pellegrini gave AS Roma a 2-0 home win against Frosinone in Serie A on Sunday night, relieving pressure on manager Jose Mourinho.

Lukaku fired Roma in front after 21 minutes when he evaded his marker and struck home from 12 yards.

Despite the one-goal advantage, newly-promoted Frosinone posed the greater threat in the final third, but couldn't draw level as they were wasteful.

The wasteful finishing proved costly as Roma captain Pellegrini put the game to bed with a perfectly-timed volley from a free-kick seven minutes from the end.

The result ended a disappointing run for Mourinho's side and lifted Roma up to 12th place with eight points after seven matches, two places and one point behind Frosinone.

Speaking after the match at Stadio Olimpico, Mourinho said: "I am very, very happy that they won the game, because when you lose the way we did in midweek, it is not easy.

"You must be emotionally balanced and have the right mentality to get on that pitch.

"Having said that, we never felt that the fans were against the team.

"The support when we were on the bus and in the stadium was extraordinary.

"I knew that whether we won or not today, we would show that we are friends, we are a team, we are united."
