Following the student protest early on Wednesday on the campus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, normalcy has been restored.
The protest was staged by the Technology and Engineering Faculty students of the institution over the death of their colleague, Okolie Ahinze for theft of a phone.
To restore normalcy, the institution management was represented by the Dean of Students' Affairs, Professor Isiaka Aransi and Chief Security Officer of the institution who both addressed to the students.
They called for serenity and order as the perpetrators will be justly treated.
Meanwhile, the protesting students in their response equally made their demands known.
The demands includes: "A representative must emerge from the deceased Faculty in the investigative panel.
"Prohibition of the parade of suspects and subjection to torture famously called 'SMS' - Scientific Maximum Shishi.
"Shut down of the Students' Union building and suspension of union leaders' activities till the outcome of the investigation."
The management's representatives consented to the demands of the protesters.
They also stressed that the perpetrators involved will be subjected to the dictates of law and justice.
The deceased, Okolie Ahize was a final-year student of the Department of Civil Engineering.
He was allegedly tortured after being caught theft of phone and subsequently confirmed dead at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex.
