Madrid Bounce Back From Derby Defeat With Win Over Las Palma

Real Madrid bounced back from their weekend derby defeat to Atletico with a comfortable 2-0 win over Las Palmas on Wednesday night.

The win moved Los Blancos up to second in La Liga thanks to goals from Brahim Diaz and Joselu.

Madrid had to endure for their first goal as Las Palmas goalkeeper Alvaro Valles made seven saves and denied a frustrated Joselu on several occasions.

But they eventually beat Valles with the last kick of the first half when Diaz’s effort from 12 yards found the top corner for his first league goal for the club.

Joselu then doubled the lead nine minutes after the break with a glancing header into the far corner.

Carlo Ancelotti was able to give the returning Vinicius Jr his first appearance since late August, while Jude Bellingham and Luke Modric were given a night off as Real comfortably saw the game out.

Madrid will next play surprise leaders Girona on Saturday in an unlikely top-of-the-table showdown.
