Madrid's Winning Mentality Will Be Crucial Against Man City, Says Courtois

Thibaut Courtois believes that Real Madrid's experience of winning finals will make the difference against Manchester City in the reverse fixture of the UEFA Champions League next Wednesday.

The Spanish giants and the Premier League champions shared the spoils in the first leg of their semi-final blockbuster at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

Vinicius Junior's thunderous effort from range opened the scoring for the Los Blancos in the first half before eventual man-of-the-match winner Kevin De Bruyne silenced the Bernabeu crowd with a breathtaking goal in the second half to make the scoreline read 1-1.

This leaves the reverse fixture evenly poised as there is everything to play for at the Etihad. 

"Next week will be like a final, and we are quite good at winning finals," Courtois told BT Sport. 

"Hopefully we can mentalise it like that even though it is at City and it will be tough for us."

Madrid have already convincingly beaten Liverpool and Chelsea away from home in this season's competition.

However, they have progressed from just two of their nine Champions League knockout stage ties when failing to win the first leg at home.
