The director of operations at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mohammed Umar, has been named its acting chairman to replace the suspended Ibrahim Magu.
This was disclosed by a top official of EFCC who pleaded to be anonymous, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
AllNews reports that Magu is currently being probed by a presidential panel over allegations of misconduct, which may not be unconnected with his indictment by an alleged memo believed to have emanated from the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN.
He appeared before the panel led by Justice Ayo Salami, retired President of the Court of Appeal, which is probing the allegations against him.
President Muhammadu Buhari suspended the embattled EFCC acting Chairman on Tuesday.
