Mahrez To Join Al-Ahli In £30 Million Deal

Riyad Mahrez is the latest big name that will move to Saudi Arabia after Manchester City agreed a £30 million deal with Al-Ahli.

The 32-year-old, who has two years left on his contract, is due to have a medical this week ahead of signing a three-year contract.

City have given him the permission not to travel on City's pre-season trip to Japan and South Korea to finalise the transfer.

Mahrez joined City in the summer of 2018 for a then club-record £60 million after playing an influential role in Leicester's Premier League title-winning season in 2015-16.

The winger won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three Carabao Cups and the Champions League since signing for City from Leicester.

He scored 15 goals from 47 games last season as Pep Guardiola's side won the Treble.

The Algeria international will join the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, Roberto Firmino, Kalidou Koulibaly and Ruben Neves, who are among those to have signed up to play in Saudi next season.

Al-Ahli is one of the four Saudi Pro League (SPL) leading clubs taken over by the country's Public Investment Fund (PIF) as the league aims to become one of the top five in the world.
