Making PHC Backbone Of Health Sector In Ogun A Must - Health

Primary Health Care which is the first point of contact for individuals, the family and the community has remained the backbone of the Ogun State health sector.

This is as the State Government reiterated its determination to further invest in human and material resources for better service delivery in the PHC facilities.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker who made this known in Abeokuta Wednesday during a meeting with Medical Officers of Health (MoH) in Primary Health Centres across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state noted that qualitative and affordable health care was one of the pillars of the present administration's ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda.

Coker while reiterating at the state government would continue to finance the sector to improve the wellness of the residents added that it had renovated health facilities across the State for people to access care irrespective of their locations.

The Commissioner while appreciating the officers for discharging their duties efficiently, charged them to always adhere to the ethics of the medical profession.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Tayo Lawal stated that the concerted efforts of government at the federal and state levels had brought about various interventions projects and programmes that would have a direct impact on the lives of residents such as the BHCPF.

In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola said the meeting was to intimate participants on the update of the COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, review performance of primary health centres in the past years, as well as brainstorm on how to deliver on the present administration's agenda in the health sector.

Responding on behalf of other MoH, Dr. Adekunle Solarin assured of their commitment to further improve on services rendered to the people.
