Man Arraigned For Theft Of Company Fund

The Osun State Police Command has arraigned a 40-year-old man, Kareem Akeem before an Osogbo Magistrate Court over the alleged theft of company funds worth N91,000.

The defendant was tried on Wednesday on two-count charge bordering on fraud and theft.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode told the court that the offence committed by the accused ran contrary to the law.

“You Kareem Akeem Ajadi on the 15th day of October, 2021 at Akinola Shopping Complex, Oke-Fia Area, Osogbo, Osun State in the Osogbo Magisterial District did fraudulently obtain the sum of Ninety-One Thousand Naira (N91,000.00) only from BESTWAY NIGERIA ENTERPRISES OSOGBO and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 419 of Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

“You Kareem Akeem Ajadi on the same date and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did steal the sum of Ninety One Thousand Naira (N91,000:00) only property of BESTWAY NIGERIA ENTERPRISES OSOGBO and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390(9) of Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002," the charge sheet read.

Kareem, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

His counsel, Okobie Nagite, while urging the court to grant him bail on most liberal terms, added that his offences were bailable under the law.

The Presiding Magistrate, O.A Daramola granted the defendant bail with N50,000 and two sureties.

She adjourned the case to October 27 for hearing.
