Man Arrested For Battering 9-Year-Old Niece In Anambra

A man named Hillary Apeh has been arrested by the Anambra State police command for allegedly beating and inflicting horrific injury on his 9-year-old niece identified as Chioma.

It was reported that the suspect who lives at Maryland Estate, Onitsha has been assaulting the little girl for a while before he was arrested and remanded in the state correctional center.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident to our correspondent adding that the case was reported to the police station by neighbors of the suspected.

Mohammed, said after a preliminary investigation was carried out, the command gathered that the suspect had assaulted the victim who has now been taken to the hospital for treatment, on other occasions.

Mohammed said, “Around 10 am, police operatives attached to the 3-3 Police Station, Onitsha, arrested one Hillary Apeh, 40, of Maryland Estate, 3-3 area, Onitsha.

“The suspect brutally assaulted his nine-year-old niece of the same address and inflicted several wounds on her body.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had on several occasions physically abused the victim, who has scars all over her body.
 
“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, while an investigation is ongoing, after which the suspect will be brought to justice.”
