Man Arrested For Photoshopping Pornographic Images With South Africa's President's Face

A 34-year-old suspect has been arrested for circulating pornographic images of unknown individuals overlaid with the faces of President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele and his wife, Thembeka Ngcobo.

The explicit photographs were distributed to the police, on social media, and on other websites.

The images began to circulate at the beginning of the month.

The Serious Organised Crime Investigation team of the Hawks, which has a base in Pietermaritzburg, joined forces on Sunday after the suspect was located and apprehended in Azalea, Pietermaritzburg, by the Gauteng Crimes Against the State (CATS) unit.

He had a large number of pornographic photographs in his possession, as well as several SIM cards, which he was alleged to be using.

To answer charges related to a violation of the Cyber Crime Act 19 of 2020, the suspect is scheduled to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday.
