Man Arrested While Transporting Stolen Cow

A stolen cow was transported in a Sienta car travelling from Nanyuki to Nyeri town on January 15, 2023.

A Kenyan man was arrested in Nyeri County, Kenya on Sunday, January 15, 2023, while transporting a stolen cow and its calf using his Sienta model car.

Officers apprehended the suspect when he was hauling a cow and its calf in his Sienta model car.

The car was leaving Nanyuki and going to Nyeri town in Kenya.

This comes as the Ministry of Interior has intensified the country's war on cattle rustling.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki stated that the government is responding in a multifaceted and multi-agency manner.

A multi-agency team from Laikipia county recovered stolen livestock in Tiaty on Friday.

The livestock had been stolen from a farmhouse in Kirima Sub-Loniek County's Area.

According to the National Police Service, the recovery occurred during a severe exchange of gunfire between the security team and the cattle rustlers at Chapelonin Area.

"The livestock including nine cows and 18 goats have since been returned to the owner in the Loniek area," NPS said.

NPS assured that the security teams remain committed to the fight against banditry and cattle rustling.

This, the Service said, will ensure lasting peace in the affected areas.
