Man Commits Suicide After Wife Abandons Him

A man who resides in Mwingi town, Kitui County has reportedly taken his own life after his wife left him.

Joshua Tungu, a middle-aged boda boda operator, committed suicide after a three-year feud with his wife.

Residents reported that Tungu killed himself by hanging.

He used a rope inside a rented residence in the neighbourhood. 

A neighbour discovered his body hanging from the roof of the house.

“I was in my house when I heard a commotion in his house.

"When I tried to check what was happening, I saw him hanging from the rooftop,” said Maluki.

He then decided to inform his neighbours about what was going on.

The neighbour stated he was worried by the sounds coming from the house where the deceased and his wife lived.

According to neighbours, the deceased was always cordial and engaged well with his neighbours.

They claimed he rarely talked but had a falling out with his wife in the past.

The woman left their home after the husband went to work.

The husband then threatened to kill himself, leading his brother coming to live with him.

However, on the day his brother went outside, he was summoned and informed that the man had killed himself.
