Man In Court For Stealing Rented Chairs, Tables and Pot

A 49-year-old man, Tunde Ayodeji, on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing six dozens of chairs, four tables, and a pot worth N235,000.

The police charged Ayodeji with theft under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. He however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Benson Emuerhi, informed the court that Ayodeji committed the offence on January 22, 2021, around 9 a.m., at No. 9, Ibidapo Street, Ijon Village, Ayobo, Lagos.

Emuerhi said the defendant stole six dozens of chairs, four tables, and a pot worth N235,000, property of Mrs Stella Ayodeji, which he rented for a party. He told the court that the defendant later sold the items.

Chief Magistrate J.A. Adegun admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum. The matter was adjourned until March 2, 2021, for further hearing.
