An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Wednesday, sentenced a 21-year-old man identified as Musa Anifowose, to two years jail term for raping an eight-year-old girl.
It was gathered that the convict committed the offense on May 1 at about 9:00 am, at No. 6, Agbaje Street, Sabo area of Ijebu-Ode.
The Prosecutor, Insp Bukola Abolade, confirming the crime added that convict intercepted her while she was going on an errand for her mother when he forcefully took her to an abandoned building beside Sabo abattoir and had carnal knowledge of her.

Testifying to the incident, the victim said she was forcefully dragged to an abandoned building at Sabo Abattoire when he raped her.
“When she got home, the mother noticed bloodstains on her cloth, and upon inquiry, she told her mother what happened between her and the convict,” she said.
Abolade noted that the offense contravenes Section 33 of the Child Rights Law of Ogun
Anifowose, who resides at No. 2, Isale Iyemule, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State was charged on a one-count charge of sexual abuse.
The Magistrate, I.O Abudu, said that all the evidence tendered in court had convinced the court beyond a reasonable doubt that the convict was guilty of the offense.
She sentenced Anifowose to two-year imprisonment without an option of fine and noted that the convict should be remanded at the Oba correctional center where he will serve his jail term.
