Man kills neighbor in Ogun - Police

The Police in Ogun State has confirmed that a man identified as Monday Ogbole has allegedly killed a neighbour, Murtala Jimoh, during a fight.

The fight Allnews.ng gathered occurred in Itele Awori area of the state on Saturday.

Though what led to the fight was unknown as of the time of filing this report, a police source stated that the suspect killed the victim with a stick.

The duo, who were said to have been neighbours, engaged in a violent duel, and efforts by other neighbours to separate them yielded no result.

While noticing that the deceased victim had the upper hand, the suspect was said to have run into his compound, and the people who were trying to separate them thought they had seen the end of the duel.

However, it was gathered from the source that the people were shocked and scrambled for safety when they saw the suspect with a heavy stick.

Before the victim could realise what was happening, the suspect was said to have smashed the stick on the victim’s head, after which he reportedly fell on his back with blood gushing out from that part of his head.

Shocked by the horrifying scene they just witnessed, the police source said that the victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was said to have died midway to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Lagos, where he was said to have been referred.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, said the suspect had been arrested, adding that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department once the preliminary investigation was completed.

“There is going to be an autopsy. The corpse has already been deposited at the Ota General Hospital morgue. We are assuring the family that justice will be served,” Odutola stated.
