Man Lynched By Mob For Killing Pastor

After reportedly hacking to death a pastor at Yesu Amala Church in Bumbo Town Council, Namisindwa District, a 22-year-old Uganda man was lynched by a mob on Thursday night. He is also accused of hurting Agatha Nambuya, the pastor's wife.

The culprit, named by the Ugandan Police as Samuel Mangwo, allegedly used a panga to hack Pastor John Wamoto, a resident of Masoola 'B' cell, Laaso ward in Bumbo Town Council, for an unspecified cause. Residents were enraged by this and also lynched him.

Rogers Taitika, the spokesperson for the Elgon Regional Police, confirmed the occurrence and stated that early findings suggest Mangwo was sick.

"It's alleged that Samuel Mangwo had some unknown illnesses and was taken to Pastor for healing prayers.

"But in the process, Mangwo picked a panga from one of the Pastor's rooms and cut him severally times on the head leading to his death.

"After the act, Mangwo was also beaten to death. It's an unfortunate situation but we strongly condemn these criminal acts," ASP Taitika said.

The pastor's wife, Nambuya, is currently being treated in a severe condition at the regional referral hospital in Mbale, Uganda.

According to ASP Taitika, a case has already been established to look into those responsible for mob justice since it is likewise inappropriate.

He also stated that no arrests had been made so far.
