Man remanded for stabbing co-tenant

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court ordered the remand of Kelvin Titan, aged 40, at Agodi Correctional Facility on Wednesday, over alleged murder of his neighbour.

Titan faces a single charge bordering on attempted murder.

The magistrate, A. T. Oyediji, refrained from taking the defendant’s plea due to jurisdictional constraints. Instead, Oyediji directed Titan's remand pending the receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The case has been adjourned until April 15 for further proceedings.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp Opeyemi Olagunju, had told the court that Titan, on March 9, at about 4:30 a.m., allegedly attempted to cause the death of a 44-year-old woman, Bolanle Ogunleye.

Olagunju said the defendant allegedly stabbed her all over the body with a knife and a pair of scissors.

He said the offence was committed at No. 12, Heritage Estate, Sharp Corner, Oluyole Extension, Ibadan.

Olagunju said the offence contravened Section 320 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2004.
