Man Remanded For Stealing Tricycle In Kaduna

A 33-year-old man, Olalekan Adeniyi, was on Thursday arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle worth N1.3 million.

Adeniyi, residing at Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna, is facing a count charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 20 at Narayi Bus Stop in Kaduna.

Leo said that on the same date at about 4:00 p.m., one Gideon David parked his tricycle at the bus stop and the defendant drove it away, thinking no one was watching him.

He stated that the defendant was caught and handed over to the police when the complainant saw him and raised an alarm.

He said the offence contravened Sections 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Emmanuel ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.

He adjourned the case to June 16 for hearing.
