Manchester United's manager, Erik ten Hag, expressed his disappointment that his team felt "broken" and "disappointed" after their FA Cup final loss to bitter rivals Manchester City.

Despite the defeat, he made it clear that he was proud of his players' performance.

In a post-match interview on Saturday, Ten Hag said "We are broken, disappointed of course, but I said I am proud of my team."

"We did very well, we conceded two soft goals but we were in the game. There was a great spirit and very good organization", the Dutch coach added.

He also emphasized the resilience, character, and personality displayed by his team throughout the match. Ten Hag believes that although they have a long way to go, this defeat will ultimately make them better as a team. He sees it as a test that, although unsuccessful, has provided valuable lessons to carry into the next season.

Manchester United's captain, Bruno Fernandes, echoed his manager's sentiments, stating that the team had made significant progress for the upcoming season despite the disappointing loss.

"Everyone is down and it's really difficult," said Fernandes. "We wanted to end the season in a different way, but it wasn't possible. We've made big steps for next season. It wasn't a successful season overall, but it was a good one. We have to come back next season and try to win bigger trophies."

Fernandes expressed gratitude towards the fans, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout the season. He expressed regret that they couldn't deliver the desired result in the final and promised that the team would strive to bring joy to the supporters in the upcoming season.

"Our fans have been great all season, and they deserved a different result today," Fernandes stated. "We're disappointed that we couldn't give the fans the joy they deserve. We are grateful for everything they have done this season. I promise we will come and try again next season."
