Man Utd vs Arsenal: Match Preview, Build-up, Team News, Kick

Arsenal travels to Old Trafford to face Ole Gunner's Manchester United after the completion of the European competition in mid-week with the Gunners trying to see to offset the Red Devils at home for the second time this season.

AllNews understands that both Arsenal and Manchester United had a wonderful goal-scoring spree in the European competition; Arsenal 3-0 Dundalk, Man Utd 5-0 Leipzig.

Arsenal is 11th on the table with 9 points while Man United stands that 15th with 7 points.

Mikel Arteta's side has conceded 7 goals, scoring 8 goals in the 6 EPL games this season, while United conceded 12 goals scoring 9 goals - Arsenal is quite the better side at least psychologically speaking.

United has not been stellar at home this season losing to Crystal and Tottenham but has recently regained confidence and strength with wins in the European competition defeating PSG and Leipzig.

Arsenal will be going to Manchester with morale high from the European win.

Man Utd (EPL Build-up)

Ole Gunner Solskjaer has been able to put off some pressure mounting on him recently and could approach the game with less pressure.

Marcus Rashford's goal scoring form will also be an advantage to United with the 22-year old scoring 7 goals, providing 2 assists in all competition.

Mason Greenwood comes back into the squad in the UCL fixture opening the scoring in the 5-0 riot making him the second-youngest player to net in the UCL

The return of Martial from the suspension is also crucial with United not having a point man in attack.

Bruno Fernandes will remain important in the midfield and going forward with positioning, penalty-taking ability, passes, vision, and dropping back to assist with defense.

Paul Pogba has been used interchangeably with Van de Beek but the Dutchman could see more game time with Fred or McTominay than the Frenchman.

The reasons being that his transfer saga could affect him psychologically, and his commitment to the club had come under question with the approach of the winter transfer and contract expiration dawns.

Harry Maguire remains the club's first choice in the backline partnering either Bailly, Lindelof while Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw or Brandon Williams on either flank.

Alex Telles is not available for selection after testing positive for COVID-19.

De Gea will also be between the sticks as the Spaniard return to top form in recent games.

All things equal, Ole Gunner Solskjaer should stick to his 4-2-3-1 formation with Martial up-front.

Coach statement (Manchester United)

Ole Gunner is beaming with joy not just for the win at Old Trafford against Leipzig but also for getting some pressure off, getting his winning streak back, and will want to keep the scrutiny away at bay.

He wants to give the Dutchman, Van de Beek some game time to keep his confidence and playing ability as those could deplete as games go after games not seeing any action.

Matic might not see some action for a while with Fred's rejuvenated form and McTominay and could only be used as a last resort.

Arsenal (EPL Build-up)

Mikel Arteta won the match against Dundalk but United is no Dundalk especially the newly resurrected Manchester United.

The Gunners have David Luis, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari out with injury, and William Saliba, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi, and Gabriel Magalhaes available for selection.

In the midfield, Thomas Partey, Xhaka, and Ceballos would be deployed to counter Fernandes, Greenwood, and Van de Beek or Pogba's play.

Much of the play would be in the midfield especially with Arsenal's style of playing from behind and using Aubameyang's pace to beat.

The presence of Cedric Soares in the defense has given Mikel Arteta an option in the right-back giving Hector Bellerin rest ahead of the clash with United.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would remain crucial for Arsenal's win but the Gabonese has not scored in the EPL since matchday 1 scoring the 3rd goal against Fulham.

But a top-class player like Aubameyang needs top clash like this to steal the limelight again.

Nicholas Pepe has been trying to reach the 72 Million Euros price tag and the Ivory Coast international 2-UEL-scoring sequence could also see him back up in the pecking order at the club.

Willian has not yet been able to spark new life into his Arsenal career with just 2 goals in 10 matches but the Brazilian is no stranger to United and could be pivotal if Arsenal wants to upset the United defense.

Coach Statement (Arsenal)

Mikel Arteta said earlier on Thursday that he 'regrets' not registering William Saliba in the Europa League squad as injury has depleted Arsenal's defense as David Luis was already out on injury.

He might give the French man an opportunity sometimes in the game as that would be a boost for his confidence.
