Zindzi Mandela, daughter of activist and the first black president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela has died.
Zindzi Mandela, 59, was Mandela's youngest daughter and was South Africa's ambassador to Denmark until her death.
She died at a hospital in Johannesburg in the early hours of Monday morning, according to SABC, the country public broadcaster.
It said, “The 59-year-old daughter of former president Nelson Mandela and struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, passed away at a Johannesburg hospital in the early hours of this morning."
Zindzi came to the spotlight in 1985 when the white government running the apartheid regime asked that her father, Nelson, decried the 'violence' committed by the members of the Africa National Congress (ANC), a group that fought against the oppressive apartheid regime in the country.
Zindzi publicly read out her father's letter responding to the request, rejecting the offer.
The cause of her death was not disclosed.
