Mane Opens Champions League Account For Bayern Munich

Sadio Mane celebrates goal for Bayern Munich

Saido Mane scored his first Champions League goal for Bayern Munich in the 5-0 win over Victoria Plzen at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

Leroy Sane opened the scoring for the hosts in the seven-minute with a tidy finish.

Gnabry added the second goal six minutes later before Mane chipped in the third goal.

Bayern Munich were hit with a COVID-19 crisis before the game with Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich ruled out, they had only five outfield players on the bench.

Musiala's goal was ruled out for offside before Sane made it four with a cool finish after a sublime pass from Mane.

Substitute Choupo Moting put the icing on the cake with the fifth goal at the hour mark.

Nagelsmann was happy with the performance ahead of the Klassiker derby against Dortmund on Saturday.

"The lads did it really well. That is how to approach a game,".

"It was decided relatively quickly, and then the game sort of trundled along."

"But that is also mature with an eye on Saturday, not to play out every attack. It was a good game to see that we are taking steps in the right direction."

Bayern Munich have now won their first three games in the competition with nine goals.

In the other Group C encounter,  Inter Milan defeated Barcelona 1-0.
