Martinelli's Goal Extends Arsenal's Lead To Five Points

Gabriel Martinelli's match-winning goal extended Arsenal's lead at the top of the Premier League to five points after full-time at the King Power Stadium.

The Gunners won Leicester City 1-0 having dominated the encounter throughout.

VAR had chalked off Leandro Trossard's fine first-half goal, citing that Arsenal's Ben White held Ward in the build-up.

The Gunners then had a penalty denied after a coming together between Bukayo Saka and Leicester's Harry Souttar as the first half ended goalless.

But Martinelli struck in the first minute of the second half to calm the nerves of the Gunners, latching on to a deft pass from Leandro Trossard to roll his shot past Danny Ward.

This makes it another win for Arsenal who lost momentum several weeks ago before bouncing back at Villa Park with a flurry of goals.

They currently lead Manchester City who are facing Bournemouth by five points.

The Gunners will be in action again on Wednesday for their outstanding match against Everton at the Emirates and will be hoping to extend their lead in the title race.
