Mason Ready To Step Up As Tottenham Head Coach

Caretaker manager Ryan Mason concedes that he feels ready to step up as Tottenham's head coach following Cristian Stellini's dismissal on Monday.

The chiefs at Tottenham axed Stellini after last weekend's 6-1 thrashing at Newcastle, which dented Spurs' top-four hopes ahead of Thursday's crunch game at home to Manchester United.

Previewing his side's clash with the Red Devils, Mason said: "I am ready. I don't doubt that. It is business.

"We have a really big game Thursday, another Sunday, so the focus on my behalf is to fully prepare for that.

"A reaction, absolutely a reaction (we need).

"Sunday was disappointing. I would hope and expect a reaction from not only the players but everyone in the building."

Mason was once Spurs' caretaker manager towards the end of the 2020/21 season following Jose Mourinho's unceremonious exit.

In that period, he took charge of seven games, winning four and losing three, including a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City in the League Cup final.

Spurs however finished seventh in the Premier League in that campaign.
