MASSOB Lampoons Umahi Over Political Tension In Ebonyi

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi over political tension building up in the state.

The group in a press statement issued by their Director of Information, Comrade Edison Samuel said it is unfortunate that Governor Umahi has converted the position he occupies to victimize political opponents.

They urged the Governor to release all the political prisoners in the state.

“Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) condemned the political tension, attacks, intimidations, killings and subjective arrest and detention of political opponents of APC led government in Ebonyi state .

“MASSOB under the leadership of Comrade Uchenna Madu after our national executive meeting condemned in entirety these irresponsible activities of Ebonyi state government under the watch of Engr. David Umahi.

“The governor should know that in less than 8 months, he will be out of office. If his predecessor did same to him, he may not have been the governor of Ebonyi state today.

“An igbo adage said that Onye gbulu nwa nne ya abughi dike (Whoever that kill his brother is not a hero)

“It is very unfortunate that an Abakiliki based journalist, Mr Godfrey Chikwere was arrested and detained in October 2021 by the present government of Ebonyi State because of what he wrote on his facebook page that politicians can pay youths to murder political enemies but they can’t empower the youths to be useful for their futures.

“Mr Peter Okutu, a reporter with Vanguard newspaper in Abakiliki and Mr Agwu Chijioke, another reporter with Daily Sun newspaper in Abakiliki were both arrested in April 2020 by same government because of their unbiased newspaper reports which the governor was not pleased with.

“Now, the political witch-hunting in Ebonyi state have shifted to political opponents in the state.

“The Labour Party senatorial candidate in Ebonyi south, Hon. Linus Okorie was arrested by the governor’s foot soldiers called Ebube Agu after torturing him they handed him over to the biased Nigeria Police on the order of the Governor

“Another political opponent being marked for elimination is the APGA governorship candidate, he was attacked by the same Ebube Agu security outfit of Governor Dave Umahi.

“MASSOB wondered why the governor of Ebonyi state uses his position of service, the people of Ebonyi State bestowed on him to victimize the her citizens.

“MASSOB is advising the governor of Ebonyi state, His Excellency Engr Dave Umahi to release all the political prisoners of conscience in Ebonyi state.

"Ndigbo have suffered enough political subjections from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC federal government.”
