Few days before he takes office for a second term on May 29, 2023, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has dissolved the state's executive council.
The dissolution is in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
At the final State Executive Council meeting held on Friday, the governor announced the dissolution of the cabinet.
Abiodun while appreciating the appointees for working with him and helping the state, expressed gratitude to God that the council did not lose anyone since it was formed.
“I am sadly, formally dissolving this executive council, today the 26th of May, 2023.
“I will miss you all, but please let's always keep in touch. We have fulfilled our promises. We can't score ourselves 100 per cent because we can't do everything. But we have done our bits and I'm very proud of what we've achieved.
"Some of you will be called upon to serve again, I am sure you will make yourselves available.
“Thank you for trusting me, for believing in me, for working with me and for serving the State.”
He added that he had put together some farewell gifts for the departing appointees, stating that the Secretary's office will distribute the gifts to them.
