Mechanic arraigned for allegedly stealing customer’s car p

Auto technician Kehinde Eniola, aged 30, appeared in front of the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday, facing accusations of pilfering car components and pocketing N60,000 in cash belonging to a client.

Law enforcement officers brought forth charges of theft and fraudulent acquisition of funds against Eniola.

In response to the allegations, the accused entered a plea of not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences in October 2022 at Moremi, Bode area, Ibadan.

Balogun alleged that Eniola fraudulently obtained N60,000 cash from his customer, Lukuman Yusuf, under false pretence to repair his vehicle gear.

He alleged that the defendant stole Yusuf’s Toyota Sienna gear box worth N700, 000 and unlawfully damaged the vehicle.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case untill May 22 for hearing.
