Medvedev Cruises Into Rotterdam Final To Face Sinner

Daniil Medvedev delivered an impressive performance to defeat Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets on Saturday, thus booking a place in the Rotterdam ATP final against Jannik Sinner.

Medvedev's 6-1, 6-2 victory over the Bulgarian also allowed the Russian to return to the world's top 10.

Medvedev, who is seeded sixth in the tournament, took just 82 minutes to dispatch his opponent, breaking serve six times out of the 13 opportunities he had. The victory allowed him to reach his first final since winning the Vienna Open last October.

In his 28th career final, Medvedev will go up against Italy's Jannik Sinner, who is currently ranked 14th in the world. Sinner had to overcome Dutch wildcard Tallon Griekspoor in a hard-fought battle, eventually winning 7-5, 7-6 (7/5).

Following his victory, Medvedev expressed his satisfaction with his performance and his desire to add his name to the illustrious list of tournament winners in Rotterdam. "It was an amazing match. The score looks easy, but the match was not. I felt physically like I was playing five sets," said the former world number one.

"Every time I come here, everywhere there are photos of the winners and their names. I don't remember who won it first time, but then Arthur Ashe won it, then others like McEnroe, Borg, Edberg, and I'm like 'Well, that tournament has a history for sure'. To add my name there would be amazing," he added.

While Sinner has been in red-hot form recently, having won the Montpellier Open last weekend, he has yet to beat Medvedev in their four previous meetings. However, he remains confident ahead of Sunday's final, having not faced a single break point in his win against Griekspoor.

Medvedev will undoubtedly be looking to build on his momentum and claim his 16th ATP title, while Sinner will be hoping to continue his recent form and score a significant upset against the Russian. Tennis fans can look forward to an exciting final showdown between two of the sport's brightest stars.
