' Meet Saraki To End Feud,' Secondus Tells Fayose, Makinde

Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and former Governor of Ekiti State Ayo Fayose who are both top members of the party in the South-Western region to approach the party's National Peace and Reconciliation Committee leader Bukola Saraki in a bid to end their feud.

Secondus pointed out that the party's long-drawn-out dispute in the South-West region had been in existence before his emergence as PDP's National chairman.

Ike Abonyi the spokesperson of Secondus suggested that the warring sides should channel their grievances to the Saraki-led panel which was set up by Secondus, RipplesNigeria reported.

“The crisis in the Southwest PDP is as old as the PDP itself, whereas Secondus became National Chairman in December 2017.

“Let them channel their problems to the Saraki-led Peace and Reconciliation Committee set up by the same Secondus. If you put your house in order, outsiders can do nothing to its foundation,” Abonyi said.

The National Chairman had earlier been accused of fueling the dispute in the South-Western chapter of the party.

Wole Oyelese a former minister insinuated that Secondus was bent on devising means to extend his tenure as the party's chairman.

The dispute between Fayose and Makinde is one that has lingered for a while and has been predicted to affect the re-election bid of Makinde as Oyo governor.

However, before the Party's Peace reconciliation committee was set-up, Governor Makinde had set-up a committee to settle the discord between himself and the former Ekiti governor.

Kicking against the committee, Fayose who proceeded to set-up his own committee claimed that members of the committee set up by Makinde were unilaterally selected.
