Messi Can Play Anywhere — Scaloni

Lionel Messi and Scaloni

Argentina's World Cup-winning coach, Lionel Scaloni has expressed his unwavering support for Lionel Messi's club football choices, emphasizing that what truly matters is Messi's comfort and happiness in his decision.

Scaloni's comments come amidst intense speculation surrounding Messi's future at Paris Saint-Germain following his recent suspension and reports of a potential move to a Saudi club.

In the wake of PSG's decision to suspend Messi after his trip to Saudi Arabia and missed training session, French media-fueled rumours of a "done deal" transfer to a Saudi club.

However, Messi's father denied any agreement, stating that no decisions would be made until the end of the current season.

Meanwhile, Messi himself returned to training with PSG on Monday and issued an apology to the club and his teammates.

Speaking to Qatar's Al-Kass channel, Scaloni emphasized that the national team's focus remains on Messi's happiness when he joins the squad, rather than the specifics of his club situation.

"Let him go to where he will feel comfortable with his teammates and the club's fans," Scaloni stated.

He highlighted that as long as Messi is content, it will not impact Argentina's national team.

Recent reports indicate that Messi has received a formal offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal for next season, with a contract renewal at PSG seemingly unlikely for the revered footballer.

The oil-rich nation, which appointed Messi as a tourism ambassador in 2022, has been actively involved in promoting football and attracting high-profile players to their league.

Notably, Messi's connection to Saudi Arabia extends beyond football, as he visited Jeddah in May 2022 and participated in a friendly match between PSG and a Saudi All-Stars team in January.

The match featured his long-time rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, adding to the excitement surrounding the event.
