Argentina duo Lionel Messi, Julian Alvarez make 14-man shortlist for the Best FIFA Men's player award.

The two Argentine forwards were crucial to the country's success at the World Cup 2022 which contributed to their nomination on the list.

A major miss on the list is former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo while holder Robert Lewandowski is in line to retain the award.

Ballon d'Or holder Karim Benzema, veteran midfielder Luka Modric and Paris Saint-Germain talisman Kylian Mbappe all make the list.

Haaland who is currently catching Premier League by storm is also part of the shortlist.
