French forward Kylian Mbappe will be absent as Paris Saint-Germain start their title defence this weekend against Clermont with an adductor injury, the Ligue 1 club confirmed on Friday.
PSG released the squad list and fans would be surprised not to see Mbappe on it, after missing out on the French Super Cup against Nantes due to suspension.
The club confirmed Mbappe had been left out of the squad that would travel to Clermont for Saturday's game "due to pain in his adductor muscles".
The club statement said "A further update will be provided in 72 hours' time."
Christophe Galtier will also begin his era at Parc des Princes following his appointment after the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino.
Aside from Messi and Neymar, who both scored against Nantes, new signings Vitinha, Hugo Ekitike and Nordi Mukiele were also included in the squad list.
