Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski.........World Class Players Who Could Take Their Teams To UCL Final At Lisbon

Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski.........World Class Players Who

The UEFA Champions League will resume by August and the competition holds the promise of excitement and superb goals. The round of 16 will be concluded first before the quarter-final and semi-final fixtures in Lisbon, Portugal.

AllNews brings some players who could help their team defeat their counterparts due to the sheer quality that they possess.

1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

The diminutive Argentine No. 10 is unarguably the best in the world winning the UEFA Champions League 4 times in his career. Messi is 33 years old we can see some drop in form and injury woes, loss of possession on the ball, less free-kick goals, less clinical but the Argentine still notched 27 goals and 24 assists in all competitions. He is the leading scorer and the assist king in La Liga.

Messi knows how to turn up on the big stage, their adversary to the final are Napoli and either Bayern Munich or Chelsea, these teams know what it means when Lionel Messi is having a good day. They would try to stop him from either scoring or providing an assist for another Barcelona player but they know it is an impossible task.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)

The Portuguese-born player is the UEFA Champions League top scorer leading with 128 goals having a goal difference of 14 goals between him and Lionel Messi who is in second place. He is the best player in the competition winning it a record 5 times. He won it 4 times in Madrid and once at Manchester United. He has also dropped from recently losing clear cut chances, sometimes having goal drought or relying on penalties to even score in a game but when it comes to UEFA Champions League football he surely knows how to light it up.

Juventus is one goal down against Lyon but the old lady will be happy to take on the French team at the Allianz stadium in Turin.

3. Neymar Jr (Paris Saint-Germain)

The Brazilian winger is one of the most skillful players in the world of football, able to take on any player with skills and trickery. He left Barcelona after winning the treble 2015/2016. He claimed he wants to leave Lionel Messi's shadow and wants to have a name for himself with a record transfer fee of £220M to Paris Saint-Germain. Since then, he could not replicate the chemistry he had in Barcelona with Di Maria, Cavani, Mbappe, or even newly signed Icardi. He is won the Ligue 1 this season after being named Ligue 1 player of the year notching 18 goals and providing 9 assists.

He could be able to win the trophy for PSG this season facing Atalanta in the quarter-final and either Leipzig or Atletico in the semi-final round, with the french team attacking quality newcomer, Atalanta or defensive-minded Atletico should not be much of a problem for the Brazilian.

4. Kylian Mbappe

The french man is one of the most sought-after young players in the world with a possible transfer fee exceeding his teammate Neymar. He is fast, clinical and could take on any defense with his quick feet, he is balance; both left and right. Mbappe is also a poacher with 30 goals and 13 assists this season. If Thomas Tuchel, PSG manager could blend him with Neymar this season could be PSG season to win the trophy. They had never won the UEFA Champions League before. Mbappe at 21 could add the Champions League to the already huge list of trophies he had won.

5. Lewandowski

The Polish striker is on his best season ever leading the UCL scorer chart with 11 goals, he had already won the Bundesliga, Bundesliga player of the year, DFB Pokal and he is leading the European Golden boot race with 40 league goals. He is a poacher, good with aerial balls, and could score with any part of his body at any time. He also has a lovely connection with Alphonso Davies, Gnabry, Muller, and Kimmich. They had already defeated Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge barring a miracle they have qualified for the next round. If Bayern is to tear Europe apart one more time like the 2012 season it will be with help of Robert Lewandowski and co.

6. Alejandro Gomez

The Argentine is having a lovely season with the newcomer defeating Valencia at Home Mestalla and away, he is a marauding runner with the ball at his feet, tearing up the defense with his runs, defense splitting passes, lovely connection with Ilicic. They might be new in the competition but they do know their football. They take on Atletico Madrid which should be the true test for them with the Rojiblancos well organized defensively but with experience in the competition. They should be wary of Gomez who could make those defensive walls come down. He has 7 goals and 18 assists in all competitions and could add to that tally in weeks to come.

7. Alvaro Morata (Atletico Madrid)

The Spanish striker is also having a rejuvenated career at the Spanish capital compared to what he had at Chelsea, he had scored 16 goals with 3 assists. His goal also contributed to defeating Liverpool at Anfield this season, he is a great finisher, good with aerial balls from set-pieces or crosses into the box, good link-up with Diego Costa, and together they could go far in the competition this season. Morata is also pacey, good long-range shots and could get by one or two players with dribbles, with the kind of counter-attack Atletico play he will be crucial for them going forward.

8. Dries Mertens (Napoli)

The Belgium international signed a new contract on June 17 and has committed long term to the club, these could serve as an additional advantage for him to focus on the team and not his future. He is having a great season too with 15 goals and 5 assists in all competitions. He is a mobile, a great shooter, and good dribbler too.

He scored at the Naples stadium in Italy in the first leg against Barcelona though the game later ended 1-1 with Griezmann's goal we could see the danger that he posed to the Blaugrana's defense. Napoli will play at Camp Nou in August, in an empty stadium but it would not matter cause Camp Nou is still Barcelona dominating ground, and Dries Mertens would be able to have a taste of it.

9. Houssem Aouar (Olympique Lyonnais)

The Frenchman is a very young, mobile, and active midfielder. He assisted Tousart's lone goal against Juventus in the first leg at the Groupama Stadium in France. He has good vision, passes, runs, and a good finisher. Aouar has 9 goals, 8 assists in all competition and he could help Lyon overcome Juventus at Turin in August.

10. Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich)

The German international is a quick foot player, he is arguably fast, plays on the wing and could open up the defense with dribbles and take on the goalkeeper with a shot from distance. He scored 4 goals against Tottenham at their new stadium joining the list of top players to score 4 goals and more in a single match in the UEFA Champions League.

He has 20 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this season and 5th place on the UEFA top scorer chart with 6 goals. His connection to Lewandowski would help Bayern defeat their adversary especially if they come against Barcelona in the near future.
